Sudah menjadi kebiasaan yang tidak mengherankan, kalau dunia pendidikan selalu berkembang. Karena setiap inovasi dan modernisasi sangat mendukung kebutuhan akan kemajuan zaman. Dalam bidang kesehatan terutama kedokteran, selalu dibutuhkan seminar dan pertemuan ilmiah yang lebih populer dengan simposium. Akhir-akhir ini para mahasiswa kedokteran yang masih menduduki semester 1 pun sudah aktif mengikuti simposium. Bahkan di antara mereka ada yang menjadi bagian dari panitia. Ada yang memang mengisi waktu sebagai alasan mengikuti setiap simposium, ada yang sangat semangat untuk benar-benar mendapat pengetahuan. Bagi kebanyakan mereka yang sudah ber profesi, mengikuti simposium merupakan kesempatan untuk mendapatkan kredit point, sesuatu yang sangat penting ketika kita mendaftar suatu pekerjaan.

Dalam rangka meningkatkan kompetensi dokter di dunia kesehatan diperlukan berbagai keterampilan, manajemen pengobatan dan perawatan. Keterampilan tersebut tidak diperoleh begitu saja tetapi harus melalui suatu proses (learning by experience). Keterampilan dapat diperoleh dari berbagai simposium dan workshop yang diharapkan dapat membantu para dokter dan paramedis lainnya (http://med.unhas.ac.id).

 Simposium awalnya dirujuk ke pesta minum (sympotein kata kerja bahasa Yunani berarti "minum bersama-sama") tetapi ini mulai mengacu ke setiap konferensi akademik, atau gaya kelas universitas ditandai oleh format diskursif secara terbuka, daripada kuliah dan pertanyaan - format jawaban. The Qur’an (pronounced [qurˈʔaːn]; Arabic: القرآن‎ al-qur’ān, literally “the recitation”) is the central religious text of Islam,also sometimes transliterated as Quran, Qur’ān, Koran, Alcoran or Al-Qur’ān. Muslims believe the Qur’an to be the book of divine guidance and direction for mankind, and consider the original Arabic text to be the final revelation of God.

Islam holds that the Qur’an was revealed to Muhammad by the angel Jibrīl (Gabriel) over a period of approximately twenty-three years, beginning in 610 CE, when he was forty, and concluding in 632 CE, the year of his death. Followers of Islam further believe that the Qur’an was written down by Muhammad's companions while he was alive, although the primary method of transmission was oral.[citation needed] Muslim tradition agrees that it was fixed in writing shortly after Muhammad's death by order of the caliphs Abu Bakr and Umar, and that their orders began a process of formalization of the orally transmitted text that was completed under their successor Uthman with the standard edition known as the "Uthmanic recension". The Quran is the pure word of God. Not one word therein is not divine. Not a single word has been deleted from its text. The Book has been handed down to our age in its complete and original form since the time of Prophet Muhammad. From the time the Book began to be revealed, the Holy Prophet had dictated its text to the scribes. Whenever some Divine Message was revealed, the Holy Prophet would call a scribe and dictate its words to him. The written text was then read out to the Holy Prophet, who, having satisfied himself that the scribe has committed no error of recording, would put the manuscript in safe custody. The Holy Prophet used to instruct the scribe about the sequence in which a revealed message was to be placed in a particular Surah (chapter). In this manner, the Holy Prophet continued to arrange the text of the Quran in systematic order till the end of the chain of revelations. Again, it was ordained from the beginning of Islam that a recitation of the Holy Quran must be an integral part of worship. Hence the illustrious Companions would commit the Divine verses to memory as soon as they were revealed. The Qur'an has 114 surahs, or chapters, of varying length and there is no chronological sequence of these chapters in the book. The order of the surahs, excepting the Suratul-Fatihah which we will shortly outline in some detail, is generally from longest to shortest. Paradoxically most of the earlier surahs are at the end of the book and the later surahs at the beginning. Each has a title, usually taken from a word or name either at the beginning of the surah or somewhere in its text. Some introduce the major themes of the surah, e.g. Suratu-Yusuf (Surah 12) which deals solely with the story of Joseph, and Suratu-Maryam (Surah 19) which devotes much of its content to Mary, the mother of Jesus. Every surah but one (Surah 9) begins with the heading Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim, meaning "In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful". These words are not only found repeatedly in the Qur'an but are a form of grace, are found as titles on letterheads, are engraved on buildings, and are commonly recited by Muslims in various situations.
